Reno County is so proud to share that Reno County Area Transit (Rcat) was recognized and presented with the Transit Service of the Year (2025) Award at the Annual Kansas Public Transportation Association (KPTA) Meeting and Expo! Our director, Kandace Bonnesen, nominated the team for their hard work and commitment.
Rcat provides safe, timely, and reliable service six days a week across 16 communities and unincorporated areas of Reno County—helping connect people to jobs, appointments, and opportunities.
Thanks to the dedication of our drivers, dispatchers, and staff, Rcat saw a 10% increase in ridership in just one year, from 70,844 rides in 2024 to 78,408 rides in 2025. More rides mean more connections, and more lives impacted.
The award celebrates not just numbers, but also the team’s adaptive teamwork, empowered decision-making, and culture of service. We are proud to see these efforts recognized at the state level.
Congratulations to the entire RCAT team—you’ve earned this honor, and our community is better for it!
Award presented by Anne Smith, KPTA to Natalie Goertzen, Rcat
