Childcare Licensing

Childcare Licensing (CCL) supports childcare providers to meet KDHE childcare regulations through educating, connecting, and listening.  They are seen as a partner to ensure that the childcare workforce is robust and has the resources needed to care for the children in our community.

Reno County seeks to ensure safe and healthy childcare facilities in Reno and Harvey Counties. We assist providers with education, resources and referral, code compliance and regulation navigation. Reno County works with partners and local stakeholders to increase childcare facilities while bolstering the quality of care in our communities.

Reno County receives a grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. This grant helps safeguard children from harm by:

  • establishing and enforcing the requirements for the operation of childcare facilities
  • increasing the state-wide availability of regulated facilities that meet or exceed standards
  • reducing predictable health and safety risks to children in childcare
  • providing consumer protection for children and families
  • providing public awareness of the need for quality childcare
  • conducting timely and accurate inspections.

They are revolutionizing the child care system through innovation to generate additional childcare slots. 

With backing from Reno County and the City of Hutchinson, the Reno County Child Care Task Force's groundbreaking initiative is introducing new, expansive models that will significantly improve access to care for children from infancy through to school age.

Local Yearly Fees

Childcare provider and facilities will be charged a local fee. This fee will be applied annually based on the anniversary date of the license. Notices will come from the Reno County Health Department.  

$30 for group and home day care
$60 for centers and preschools

Emergency Preparedness for Childcare

All providers are required to have professional development training including Health and Safety, Pediatric First Aid, and CPR. All training is to be KDHE approved.

Childcare Provider Orientation Class

The first Tuesday of every month, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Reno County Health Department.
 

Child Care Providers,
With the implementation of our new regulations, we understand many of you are eager to obtain a new regulation book. To request a regulation book pertaining to your program type, please complete this form.

 A few helpful reminders:

  • At the beginning of each month we will submit orders for regulations books to our printing department for all orders from the previous month.
  • It may take several weeks for your regulation book to be delivered.
  • Only requests for Child Care Centers/Preschools and Family Child Care Homes are being accepted at this time.
  • Only one regulation book per facility will be provided.
  • All regulations books are available on our website for ease of access and self-printing.
