Reno County Commission Meetings

Commission meetings are held each month on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Wednesdays at 9 a.m. in the Veterans Room at the Reno County Courthouse, 206 W. 1st Ave., Hutchinson, Ks. Meetings are live-streamed on the county's YouTube channel at www.youtube/@RenoCounty/streams

Apportion and levy taxes as provided by law
Contract for protection of public health and welfare
Establish election precincts in township
Establish resolutions for property use
Examine and settle county receipts/expenses
Lay out, alter, or discontinue roads as provided by law
May acquire, own, and operate an airport
Organize a new township
Perform other duties as prescribed by law
Purchase an existing building, remodel, and equip for county use
Purchase sites for county buildings

Don Bogner has served as District Five Reno County Commissioner for the past two years and is currently the Chairman. A lifelong resident of Reno County, Bogner resides on his farm in the county's southeast corner.

Now retired but still helping the current generation, Bogner spent his career as a farmer and dairyman. He is an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ost, Kansas, and has contributed his time and expertise as a board member on various church committees throughout the years.

Bogner's commitment to community service extends beyond his church. He has previously served on the Haven Coop Board, the Haven Community Ambulance Board, and the Jail Study Committee. These roles reflect his dedication to addressing local needs and supporting the well-being of his neighbors.

Bogner was inspired to run for office after being encouraged by community members who felt he would represent their views effectively and maintain open communication. Throughout his term, he has worked diligently to address the concerns of citizens in his district and across Reno County. Bogner looks forward to continued engagement with voters as he serves his community.

Ron Hirst is completing his ninth year as District 2 Reno County Commissioner and Vice Chairman. He was first elected as a Commissioner in 2016.

Hirst is a lifetime Reno County resident engaged in production agriculture along with renovating houses for rentals. Hirst previously held a Kansas Real Estate Brokerage license and owned and operated a farm financial analysis business. Hirst is a graduate of Kansas State University.

Hirst is the former Mayor of South Hutchinson and past board member of several local and state organizations. Hirst is the former director of the Quest Center for Entrepreneurs and previously served on the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market Advisory Board.

Hirst is currently a member of the Hutchinson / Reno County Chamber of Commerce's Ag Committee. He is a representative on the Child Care Task Force for the Reno County Commission. Hirst is a current board member of SCKEDD and K96 Corridor Development Association.

Hirst said, "Above all, as a county commissioner, I believe it is vital to be a servant leader by listening to constituents of not only my district but to all county residents, studying all issues and then informing my fellow commissioners of the reasons for my decisions."

Randy Parks, County Commission District 1

I’m proud to consider myself a resident of Reno County where I reside with my wife of almost 42 years. We have two grown boys who are married and have three grandchildren between them. I graduated Hutchison High School and hold several technical degrees.I have a vast work history from the technical, maintenance, construction, administration fields. I’ve served on several boards over the years and have served as past president of several of those boards.

Why become involved in Politics?

I have felt the urgency to become involved in local government for a while now, I, as many working Americans, think it time for more sensibility and a more practical listening governmental body that truly represents the people of their community. I promise to work diligently for the people of Reno County and I will always value the voices that matter most, yours.

Ron Vincent began his term as Reno County Commissioner for District Three on January 13, 2025. A lifelong resident of Reno County, Ron attended Union Valley Elementary School and graduated from Buhler High School. He has been married to his wife, Becky, for 50 years and is the proud father of two grown sons and grandfather to two teenage granddaughters.

In 1976, Ron purchased the family business, Carl Vincent Services, a water well and wastewater contracting company, from his father, Carl Vincent. He successfully managed and owned the company for 47 years before retiring two years ago following the sale of the business.

Ron has actively participated in various organizations including being a past member of the Reno County Health Department Board, the Hutchinson Home Builders Association, and the Kansas Groundwater Association. Additionally, he was a founding member and past president of Kansas Small Flows, a statewide wastewater organization.

Motivated by a desire to make a positive impact, Ron decided to run for office after observing how Reno County operates and identifying opportunities for constructive change. While he ran as a Republican, Ron emphasizes that he has no political agenda and is committed to engaging with all residents, regardless of their political beliefs.

I have proudly called Reno County home for over 50 years. My wife, Kathy, and I raised four wonderful children here, and we are now blessed with thirteen grandchildren, ranging in age from 14 months to 17 years. Family has always been at the heart of my life and inspires my dedication to our community.

A graduate of Hutchinson High School, I also hold a technical degree and have enjoyed a fulfilling career. I spent 35 years working at a pool and spa store where I built lasting connections with customers and colleagues. After retiring from the store, I worked in Reno County’s Maintenance/Facilities Department and now serve the community through my role at our community college. These experiences have helped me gain a well-rounded understanding of our community’s needs and challenges.

One of my greatest joys is sharing my love of toy trains with my grandchildren. This hobby allows me to create lasting memories and pass down a sense of wonder and curiosity to the next generation.

Family and community are deeply important to me, and I am committed to ensuring Reno County remains a great place to live and work. I value connecting with people, and I take pride in being a good listener. As a county commissioner, I will prioritize engaging with the community, hearing your concerns, and making thoughtful, informed decisions to benefit our county.
