The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a trained cadre of individuals who can be called on during and emergency, training, exercises or community events to assist the emergency management office or other emergency services agency. This team receives a 20 hour initial training which is explained below. They also meet on a monthly basis for either training or planning meetings depending on up coming events.
Initial training is a 20 hours course consisting of:
- Introduction to CERT
- Fire Safety and Basic Fire Fighting Skills
- Search and Rescue
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Introduction to the Incident Command System
- Disaster Psychology
- Basic Terrorism
- Hazardous Materials Response
