Speaker series addressing CHIP initiatives starts Wednesday, June 12th
Speaker Series to Provide Community Education Around Community Health Improvement Plan
Hutchinson, KS- Pathways to a Healthy Kansas, a Blue Cross and Blue Shield funding program, in partnership with Heal Reno County launches a speaker series addressing the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) initiatives.
Beginning June 12th, a series of events featuring community leaders, speaking on different topics highlighted in the CHIP, kicks off. The residents of Reno County are invited to join in on the conversation to learn and be engaged in the efforts being made to improve gaps of care and areas identified by the CHIP. “This is a great time for people to understand how much work is going on to better our community, make improvements to better the health of our people and provide access to specific types of care needed,” explains Candace Davidson, Health Promotion Supervisor for Reno County Health Department. “We are excited about who is presenting on topics and believe our community can have a great impact on the steps we are taking to work on areas in the CHIP.”
The speaker series gives people four different opportunities to be educated on four different topics and initiatives. The opportunities to participate are as follows:
- June 12 Benjamin Anderson, President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System

- 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Hutchinson Public Library, 901 N Main St.

- June 26 Mental Health Task Force
- Presenting on: Mental Health
- 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the Hutchinson Public Library, 901 N Main St.

- July 10 Dakotah Sanders, Author and ACT Peer Support Specialist at Horizons
- Presenting on: Substance Misuse
- 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Wool Market, 420 N Main St, Hutchinson
- Sponsor: Reno Recovery Collaborative
- July 24 David Jordan, President and CEO of United Methodist Health Ministry Fund
- Presenting on: Child Care
- 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Wool Market, 420 N Main St, Hutchinson
- Sponsor: Reno County Child Care Task Force
