A turnout of 35 community members attended the Safety and Protection Discussion in the Sylvia Senior Center to talk to and ask questions of Sheriff Darrian Campbell and his staff, Reno County Commissioner Ron Hirst, and District Attorney Thomas Stanton.

Many questions were asked and answered regarding coverage by the Reno County Sheriff's Office, misdemeanor and felony crimes, prosecution of criminals in the court system and the rights of property owners. City ordinances and state statutes were also discussed. Participants shared their real-life experiences, highlighting the needs and challenges of smaller communities in Reno County.

This safety and protection discussion was organized in response to feedback generated during a Love Where You Live community gathering, hosted by the Hutchinson Community Foundation.
