Roundup of information from the Reno County Commission meeting on Wednesday, March 26th

The Reno County Commission meeting began with the reading of two proclamations. The first proclaimed April 2025 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the second proclaimed the week of April 13th-19th, 2025, as Week of the Young Child. Commissioners were photographed with Eva Patterson, left, and Kamie Moore with the Healthy Families Home Visiting Program. For National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Eva suggested that people participate in "Wear Blue Day" on Friday, April 4th, to kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month. During public comment, Don Rogers, President of Wells Aircraft, spoke to commissioners thanking them for the ability to watch the meeting the Reno County YouTube channel. He also wanted to let the commissioners know that he wanted to share a positive comment about the commissioners' decision to give support to the 2029 U.S. Senior Open at Prairie Dunes and to share the impact that Prairie Dunes brings to Hutchinson and Reno County.
Don Brittain, Director of Reno County Public Works, gave his annual report on the department.
Clint Nelson, President and CEO of Interfaith Housing and Community Services, spoke to commissioners requesting an approval of an agreement between Reno County and Interfaith Housing to continue the Brush Up Reno County program.
A presentation about the Kansas Natural Resource Coalition was given by Tracey Barton, Executive Director and Bob Ryan, President of the KNRC.
