Learning how to take care of yourself while taking care of others: Caregiver Burnout and Resources

Lindsey Herndon, LNHA, MBA, Resident Director at Legend Senior Living of Hutchinson, spoke about "Caregiver Burnout and the Resources Available" during the last of the four part Community Collaboration Series in April at the Reno County Department of Aging.
Lindsey went through information starting with what is a caregiver, what is caregiver burnout, how did we get here and support for caregivers. Many options were shared about how caregivers can find support groups in various communities to help them through the emotional, physical and mental exhaustion that caregiving may cause people. A robust question and answer time was held during the second half of the event, giving people a time to share their thoughts and experiences and find out what help is available if they are experiencing burnout.
Cara Conaway, Information and Outreach Program Coordinator at the Reno County Department of Aging, shared that she has a wealth of information and resources available to people if they contact her at (620) 694-2911 or email her at [email protected]
Alisha Smith, from Gentiva Hospice, will give a talk titled "Parkinson's Unpacked: What's Next and Where to Turn," on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Department of Aging conference room, 120 W. Avenue B, in Hutchinson.
