Feel What They Feel: A Dementia Awareness Experience

Our June Community Collaboration Series event in June featured a "Dementia Simulator" presented by Nicole Stahl, PTA, Community Liaison at Specialized Homecare.

This presentation offered caregivers a unique, hands-on experience to better understand what it's like to live with dementia—helping to build empathy and insight through an immersive approach.

Participants were asked to wear thick gloves and try to do common activities like setting the table, unbuttoning a pair of pants, writing with a pen and opening medication bottles. Headphones were worn to simulate a loss of hearing and sunglasses were worn to experience loss of sight.
