Chief Judge Patricia Macke Dick honored at retirement reception

Chief Judge Patricia Macke Dick was celebrated Friday afternoon during her retirement reception in the courthouse, honoring her 36 years with the 27th Judicial District serving the people of Reno County and the state of Kansas.
Judge Daniel Gilligan spoke about Chief Judge Macke Dick's accomplishments during her 36 years of service and introduced retired Judge Joe McCarville who spoke about working with Chief Judge Macke Dick. Stephanie Smith, Judicial Administrator, Kansas Judicial Branch, presented her with a certificate of retirement and a statue with her dates of service as a Kansas District Court Judge.
Chief Judge Macke Dick will retire on January 13, 2025. She was first elected as district court judge in 1988 and was appointed as chief judge of the 27th Judicial District, which is composed of Reno County, in 2007.
According to the Kansas Judicial Branch announcement, Chief Judge Patricia Macke Dick has served on the Kansas Judicial Council, the Chief Judges Council, the District Court Management Personnel Advisory Committee, the Supreme Court Task Force on Permanency Planning, and the Kansas Pretrial Justice Task Force. She is a past president of the Kansas District Judges Association and a member of the American Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the National Conference of State Trial Judges, and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. Chief Judge Macke Dick has been a member of the Hutchinson Women Attorneys Association, the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, the Reno County Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Chief Judge Macke Dick has been married to her husband David for 46 years and they have three children and six grandchildren. She plans to spend her retirement traveling, volunteering, and enjoying time with family and friends.
