Breaking Ground on the future Lil' Hawks Child Care Center near Morgan Elementary School
Gusty winds sent their orange construction hats flying as six young students waited to join the lineup of adults at the USD 308 groundbreaking ceremony for the future Lil' Hawks Child Care Center, held Tuesday afternoon in the area northwest of Morgan Elementary School, near 29th Avenue and Adams Street.
USD 308 Board of Education President Laura Corey spoke to the group gathered about her difficulty in the past trying to find child care for her own child. USD 308 Superintendent Dawn Johnson mentioned and thanked all of the groups that helped make building the center possible. Stacy Goss, mayor of the City of Hutchinson and USD 308 District's Director of Communications, thanked everyone for coming and helped direct all of the groups to have their photograph taken including Sammy Salthawk who joined the ceremony!
A portion of the ARPA funds for expansion from Reno County contributed to the USD 308 child care project. The new facility is expected to be completed in January of 2026.
