After 37 years of public service, Kathy Winger retires from the Health Department

Although her title has changed over the years, Kathy has held the same position throughout her 37 years with Reno County. Kathy has also seen many updates within the health department, both in the programs that are offered and the physical space.
When Kathy started, the health department was located in half of our current building and in the basement of the courthouse. Working in the health department, over the years, Kathy has been able to assist with the health department’s preparedness response with the Greensburg tornado, the Hepatitis A outbreak, our H1N1 response efforts, receiving the smallpox vaccine after 9-11, and assisting with the COVID-19 vaccine clinics. During her time here, Kathy has met some great people, both in the Health Department as well as other departments throughout the County.
Kathy has been married to Richard for almost 27 years. Richard is currently serving as a Reno County Commissioner. They have 4 children and 13 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 17 years. She looks forward to retiring and spending time with her grandkids. Kathy is an active member of Crosspoint Church and serves monthly on their “serve” team.
Congratulations Kathy on your retirement!
